On August 28, XCCG successfully bid for the Upgrading and Reconstruction Project LOT2 of Mintom-Mbalam Road along the Cameroon-Congo border, with a bid price of 28,313,228,042 Central Africa CFA francs, which is equivalent to 327 million RMB. The project is owned by the Ministry of Public Works of Cameroon and funded by the African Development Bank, BDEAC and Japan International Cooperation Agency. The project is 53 km long in total and will be constructed as per the criterion of two-lane third-grade highways, with a design speed of 50 km/h and contract period of 36 months. The project adopts the EPC general contracting mode (general contracting mode during the whole course of design, procurement and construction).

    Mingtong-Mbalam Project, located along the southern border of Cameroon, is the only passage linking Cameroon with Congo and also the main trunk line connecting the member states of the Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa, and of great importance to the economic development of Cameroon. Fourteen main mineral resources and twelve precious tree species are reserved in Cameroon and its neighboring countries. Most of the mineral products and timber are transported to ports and sold across the world through this road, of which about 15% of the mineral products and 40% of the timber are exported to China. After completion and opening to traffic, this project will greatly increase the road capacity, promote the social and economic development of Cameroon and its neighboring countries, create more jobs, improve the living standards of residents along the road, and also greatly step up the economic and trade exchanges between Central African countries and China, thanks to which the construction of this project has received substantial support from a number of governments.

     This success in bidding for Cameroon highway project is an important result for the regional strategic layout of XCCG in Africa, marking a milestone for the “going out” of XCCG to take root in the African market. It will become an important African business card of XCCG and lay a solid foundation for XCCG to embark on an international road.
